IKRON and Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services Celebrate Success
On October 24th, IKRON attended the Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services’ Employer Spotlight Breakfast. This event highlighted the success of five individuals who, with the support of various workforce organizations, have obtained and maintained fulfilling employment.
The morning kicked off with breakfast catered by IKRON’s chef and participants in our Culinary Training Program. This was followed by addresses from Leia Snyder, the Superintendent and CEO of Hamilton County DD Services, as well as Anne Tapia, Community Life Engagement Project Manager.
The event recognized five individuals and their support teams for working together to find employment that fulfilled them and met them where they are. Awards were also given to their employers, which ranged from Remke Market to Everybody’s Records to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Video spotlights accompanied each of these awards, detailing the individual’s story, their tenacity, and why their job is the right fit for them. The morning ended with a brief presentation on IKRON and the employment and support services we offer.
This was the second annual Employer Spotlight Award Breakfast, and many attendees expressed excitement for future events. Awardees, their families, teams, and employers beamed with pride at the recognition of their accomplishments. As one individual’s father put it, “When you underestimate them, you’re doing a disservice to both them and yourself.”
