50 For 50 #9: Joys of the Present
This is the ninth in a continuing series of stories--one every day for 50 days--to conclude IKRON's year-long celebration of our 50th anniversary. Missed one? No problem! See the entire series on our news page here.
Today's story is from one of our talented job developers.
Will* is still with the same employer, three years after he and I worked together. My role was minor in his case, as he is driven by forces deeper and stronger than anything I could possibly offer. He thinks about his past still, and sometimes feels regret about old mistakes. But work, and the relationships important to him--his son, a spiritual mentor, a few close friends, persons in the recovery community--are reminders that what is most important is not the wreckage of the past, but the joys of the present.
