This is the 46th in a continuing series of stories--one every day for 50 days--to conclude IKRON's year-long celebration of our 50th anniversary. Missed one? No problem! See the entire series on our news page here.

IKRON still possesses, and frequently reads from, the staff journal from the first year of the UC Rehabilitation Center (IKRON's original name). Today's story is from that journal.

"This morning we were visited by Mrs. Kirkpatrick and a photographer of the Post Times-Star. They will be doing a 'human interest' story on the Center."

"We had about a half-page spread in last night's Post Times-Star on page 25. The write-up was very good. The publicity will certainly help the Center. A former trainee saw the write-up and called this afternoon. She is coming in to visit us tomorrow and I invited her to our Christmas dinner on the 23rd."

This early publicity was helpful for spreading the word about UC Rehabilitation Center and was followed by more articles in 1970. Positive press for UC Rehabilitation Center and later for IKRON continued to roll in over the years, such as this article from 1981.
