This is the sixteenth in a continuing series of stories--one every day for 50 days--to conclude IKRON's year-long celebration of our 50th anniversary. Missed one? No problem! See the entire series on our news page here.

A new opportunity came IKRON's way in 2011, when Monica Negrila, a former staffer who had moved from Cincinnati to Seattle, called with a crazy idea: "What if IKRON came out here?"

In November 2011, the IKRON Board of Trustees approved the expansion of services to Seattle, and the new branch registered as a non-profit in Washington State that same day. After a couple months of getting set up and setting a modest goal of one referral per month, IKRON Seattle received its first referral on February 1, 2012... followed by 30 more in March. The Seattle office was up and running.

In the following years, IKRON of Greater Seattle laid the groundwork needed for today's services: obtaining necessary state certifications, securing contracts with state and county behavioral health organizations, and building a reputation for quality services. Today, over 30 staff in the Seattle area serve approximately 400 participants across three locations in Bellevue, Redmond, and North Seattle.
